How the Gimme Golf Tool came to be
The idea hit when playing a round of golf on vacation with the fellas. We all had some nice cigars, and a cooler full of beer. When we got on the first tee, we decided we should all start the round with a beer shotgun. Well, after some using their teeth, some running back to the cart for some keys, another jabbing the can with a tee, we sort of did what we were trying to do, but there was nothing smooth about it. We took too long and there was definitely no style about it. Even with all of that, it was still a good way to start the round, we just couldn't execute it correctly.
Next we all tee'd off and headed for our balls. Prior to jumping in the cart and hitting the gas, I set my $20 cigar near the cup holders thinking it would be secure. On the second tee box, everyone was lighting up their cigars and I couldn't find mine. I even back tracked knowing it fell out but it was no where to be seen. Luckily, one of my buddies gave me an extra cigar he had (a Drew Estate T52 - thanks bro) and we continued on.
The rest of the round (just like all the other rounds) we enjoyed our cigars, but were all constantly finding ourselves setting them on the ground while we hit, or setting them anywhere we could in the cart, burning the grass or knocking the entire ash off. Most of the time they would fall off the cart, burn out (we were constantly re-lighting them) there was just not a comfortable solution to enjoy golf and our cigars at the same time. Talks about another shotgun on the signature hole started, but none of us were very motivated for that task again.
Here's where the Gimme Golf Tool comes in. While walking up to the green after an amazing shot on the signature par 3 over the water, I proceeded to fix my ball mark (always a rewarding experience) and there it hit me. I needed a tool, that did my favorite golf task, and solved the problem with our cigars, shotguns and ball marks. I didn't want to have a bunch of accessories for all of it, I wanted one tool that got the job done, and was something I needed for golf anyway. Nothing bulky, something sleek that I could stick in my pocket or store in my golf bag.
After some researching, there were plenty of different types of cigar holders, but that's all they were. There were also shotgun tools, but not with a cigar or golf application in mind. If there was a cigar holder, there was no shotgun tool, if you could stick it in the ground, there was no solution for inside the cart, if there was a solution for inside the cart, there was no solution on the tee box, and non of them were a practical golf tool...
So I got to work designing, testing, more designing more testing and finally landed on what you now know as the Gimme Golf Tool. It does the task of fixing a ball mark, holds your cigar in the cart securely while you're driving or waiting and you can stick it in the ground while you hit. When you're ready for that shotgun moment, the built in shotgun tool creates the perfect hole every time, safely and with ease. Now we enjoy our round of golf, and the extra things that go with it.
If you made it this far in the story, thanks for reading this, If you like beer, cigars and golf, you'll love this tool. If you've purchased one, thank you. We hope it enhances your golf experience like it does ours. Let's get out there!
